The Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist Church is blessed to have a leadership team who are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will.

Dr. Timothy Nixon

Senior Pastor

Timothy Nixon was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.   He is a graduate of Oakwood University, BA in Theology-1982, Andrews University, M. Div. 1991.  He began his Pastoral ministry in the Northeastern Conference in June 1981.   From 1983-85 he was the Associate Pastor and then from Oct. 1985-Jan. 1986 served as the Interim Senior Pastor of the Hanson Place Church in Brooklyn, NY.  

 

From 1986-1990 He served as the Senior Pastor of the Hudson Valley district.  In 1987 he was ordained to the Gospel ministry in the Northeastern Conference.  While pastoring in the Hudson Valley, over 200 souls were baptized, three church buildings were renovated and the “Your Bible Speaks,” radio broadcast was inaugurated.  

 

In January of 1990 He accepted a call to the Southeastern California Conference where he pastored the Juniper Avenue Church in Fontana, CA.  In his first year, the Juniper Ave Church had the highest tithe gain and baptisms per capita in the Southeastern California Conference.  In April 1993 he was transferred to the Valley Fellowship Church in Rialto.  During his stay at Valley over 100 souls were baptized and the church established a School of Lay Evangelism. 

 

In April of 1995 Pastor Nixon accepted a call to the Allegheny East Conference.  He Pastored in the Greater Washington D.C. area and was assigned to two churches in Annapolis, and St. Leonard, Maryland.  While there he developed a Small Groups ministry and conducted 4 Evangelistic Series.  During his three-year tenure 50 souls were baptized.   

 

In March of 1998 he received a call to the Chaplaincy of Andrews University.  He accepted the call and in July of 1998 and assumed the position of Administrative Chaplain & Associate Pastor of the Pioneer Memorial Church.  As Chaplain he served as the sponsor of New Life Fellowship, a student-led worship service on the Campus of Andrews University.  In 2004 he also became New Life’s Senior Pastor

 

Pastor Nixon has done advanced studies in Clinical Pastoral Education at Loma Linda University Hospital and has completed 2 years of doctoral course work in Marriage, Family & Child Counseling (MFCC) at Chapman University in Southern California.  He is an Ecclesiastically Endorsed Chaplain and a Certified Planned Giving & Trust Services Officer. He has completed a Doctor of Ministries degree from Andrews University in December 2010.

 

He has conducted Evangelism field schools for the North American Division Evangelism Institute (NADEI), Evangelistic series, Revivals, Weeks-of-Prayer and Professional seminars for conferences and churches throughout the U.S. and around the world.  He has been the featured speaker at Camp meetings, PELC (Pastoral Evangelism Leadership Conference), and other ministerial conventions.  In 2013 he was selected to conduct one of the NY-’13 Evangelistic Series in Brooklyn, NY.

 

He has taught Youth Ministry Leadership, Public Evangelism and Homiletics & Preaching for Andrews University’s Theological Seminary and has served as adjunct professor for the Seminary and the University’s undergraduate Religion Department

 

From 2014—2018, Pastor Nixon served as the Executive Secretary | COO & Trust Services Officer of the Lake Region Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.  

 

In the fall of 2018, He returned to pastoral ministry and was assigned to serve as the Senior Pastor the Niles Philadelphia & All Nations-Berrien Springs SDA Churches in the Lake Region Conference.

 

In November of 2021 he accepted a call from the Northeastern Conference to become the Senior Pastor of the Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist Church in Harlem, NY.  Pastor Nixon assumed those responsibilities in January of 2022

 

He is married to the former Sandria Lalasingh, since 1985.  She has been in the nursing profession for over 30 years and presently serves as a Nurse Practitioner.  In May of 2010 she completed her Doctoral degree in Nursing Practice (DNP).  

 

They have been two adult children: Michael, Esq. who serves as the Vice President for Diversity at Andrews University.  He is the proud father of one daughter, Noa Elise.

His daughter Camille, is a Counselor by education & profession. Presently she is studying to complete an MS in Psychology at Palo Alto University.  

 

Pastor Nixon lives his life with the assurance that he is doing what God wants him to do and is where God wants him to be.  His favorite text is Micah 6:8.

Pastor Silburn I. Reid

Assistant Pastor

Silburn Isaiah Reid is the seventh child born to Isaiah and Joyce Reid, who taught him at an early age to trust and honor God. He is a proud product of Christian education – having attended Northern Caribbean University earning a Bachelor of Science degree, Andrew’s University, where he earned his Master of Divinity degree. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Systems, Families and Therapy at the Loma Linda University in California. 

Prior to his assignment to the Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist Church, he served as the Assistant Pastor of Youth at the Community Worship Center in Queens, New York, under the leadership of Dr. Abraham Jules. When he is not studying, preaching, or teaching, he can be found playing football or rooting for his favorite team, Manchester City. 

Silburn’s greatest life goal is to infect the lives of others with the word of God, so that all can be saved. His favorite hymn is 99 - "Be not dismayed, whatever be tide, God will take care of you." His declarative mantra is, "If prayer cannot do it, it cannot be done."

Dr. Dean Preddie

First Elder

Dr. Dean Preddie is the First Elder of the Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church.  His mission is to lead souls to Christ by promoting a lifelong commitment to total physical, emotional and spiritual wellness. 

Dr. Preddie is a product of Christian education, graduating from Broadview Academy and Andrews University. He earned both his masters and medical degrees at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.  After an Internal Medicine residency at Wayne State University, Dr. Preddie completed his Nephrology fellowship at Columbia University, where he still holds a faculty appointment.  He is currently the Medical Director and Regional Medical Officer for Azura Vascular Care in New York, NY.

As a physician, Dr. Preddie is keenly aware of the role that lifestyle choices make in both the immediate and long-term quality of life.  His work with kidney failure and critically ill patients has reinforced his belief in God's health laws as outlined in the Adventist Health Message. As such, he strives to promote disease prevention through interactive lectures and health programs. Dr. Preddie is not only dedicated to improving lives here on earth, but to introducing lives to Jesus Christ for heaven above.

Dr. Preddie is married to the former Melissa Dana Wout and they are blessed with two teenage sons, Jonathan and Jaiden.
