Dr. Willie J. Wright Jr.
Senior Pastor
Dr. Willie J. Wright Jr. was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, to the late Willie J. Wright Sr. and Barbara Wright. He is one of five siblings. From an early age, he demonstrated a strong passion for sports, particularly basketball, with aspirations of playing professionally. However, God had other plans, leading him into a lifelong calling of ministry, teaching, and service.
Dr. Wright has been happily married for 39 years to his high school sweetheart, Sylvia VanHorn Wright. Together, they are the proud parents of five adult daughters: Whitney of Las Vegas; Willicia Brown, a permanent eyebrow artist, online brow instructor, and former high school mathematics teacher in the Huntsville School District; Weybrielle Johnson, a Registered ICU Nurse; Wynique, an accomplished pianist and violinist and owner of Playwright Piano Studio; and Winter, a hair and wig stylist and content creator. They are also blessed with eight grandchildren—three granddaughters, Amariah, Gabrielle, and London, and five grandsons, William, Hunter, Michael Jr., Gabriel, and Ethan.
Dr. Wright also embraces his sons-in-law, Demetrius and Michael, as valued members of the family.
Mrs. Sylvia Wright has served as a registered nurse for over 33 years and currently works as a Registered Nurse Assessor for the State of New York. She is passionate about gourmet cooking and baking and is the co-owner of Gabby’s Gourmade Granola. Her interests also include naturopathy, healthy alternative lifestyle living, and natural products advocacy.
Dr. Wright is a graduate of Oakwood University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theology with a minor in Computer Science. He later obtained a Master of Divinity
degree from Andrews University and completed a Doctor of Ministry degree at United
Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.
In addition to pastoral ministry, Dr. Wright is a trained chaplain and has served in hospice care, ministering to individuals and families facing end-of-life transitions. This work has deepened his compassion, pastoral sensitivity, and commitment to holistic spiritual care.
Dr. Wright has pastored in the Northeastern Conference of Seventh-day Adventists for twenty-seven years. Throughout his ministry, he has conducted numerous evangelistic crusades and Bible prophecy seminars, resulting in hundreds of baptisms. He has a deep love for the Lord and for people, with a particular passion for teaching Bible prophecy, leading Bible studies, counseling individuals, and strengthening marriages.
He is also the founder and host of Prophecy Plus, a media-based teaching ministry dedicated to exploring Bible prophecy in light of current world events. Through Prophecy Plus, Dr. Wright teaches prophetic truth with clarity and relevance, helping audiences understand the times in which we live through a biblical lens. This ministry is livestreamed on YouTube and Facebook, reaching viewers locally and globally.
Young at heart and a lifelong learner, Dr. Wright enjoys reading, writing, exercising, studying Scripture, and teaching. He has a special love for writing devotionals and spiritual growth resources designed to encourage faith, deepen discipleship, and inspire Christ-centered living. He also enjoys traveling and cooking alongside his wife.
Dr. Wright’s favorite Bible text is Jeremiah 29:11:
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
Personal Mission Statement:
“To strive for Christ’s excellence in mind, body, and spirit, influencing others to follow Him.”
Motto:
“Excellence, not prominence.”
