The Ephesus Youth Church is inviting you to partner with us as we protest for the fair distribution of drug treatment centers in Harlem. 

Currently, there is an oversaturation of these programs in our community because when the more affluent communities are met with the proposal to plant these programs there they are rejected and placed in areas where the poverty level is the highest. As a result, the quality of life is affected because the placement of these centers in our community serves as a breeding ground for the sale and use of drugs. 

The research  shows that there is a disproportionate number of drug treatment centers in Harlem, because 6.9 percent of the population struggles with addition while there are enough treatment centers to accommodate 19.1 percent of the population.

What this means is that people who live outside of Harlem currently receive their treatment here and the irony is that the National Institute of Health states that: “Clients who traveled less than 1 mile were 50% more likely to complete treatment than clients who traveled more than 1 mile.” 

Therefore, we want you to help us give those fighting against the demon of addiction a chance to be successful by vocalizing the need to place these centers in areas where they do not currently exist. 

Our goal is to send 500 letters to both Governor Andrew Cuomo and Commissioner Arlene Gonzalez-Sanchez (New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports). You can do that by:
